In early 2020 our Treetec arborists and ecologists installed 148 artificial chainsaw hollows in urban parks throughout the City of Whitehorse.

In spring 2022 we returned to survey the hollows with the help of some awesome volunteers, and we were excited by the results.

We observed a number of different species using the artificial chainsaw hollows, with wildlife occupancy rates around 79% across the entire project. A fantastic result.

With support from City of Whitehorse, we aim to continue to monitor these artificial wildlife hollows over an extended period to gather some valuable data on their ability to provide wildlife homes over time.
